Marina F. Andrews Community Garden

During the fall and winter of 2018, we helped a group of displaced community gardeners find a new home at the Town-owned Andrews Farm. With financial support from individuals and foundations, the Marina F. Andrews Community Garden was up and running by mid-April 2019, in record time and ready for the growing season. Farming Falmouth was able to pave the way to a solution, physically assist with the move, and act as the group’s 501(c)3 umbrella, allowing the gardeners to apply for grants. We hope this is the first of many fruitful collaborations. For more information on the garden or to lease a plot, please visit their website.

After years of dreaming and planning Farming Falmouth signed a lease with the town of Falmouth in November of 2020 and the community gardeners broke ground shortly thereafter at the historic Emerald House in East Falmouth! By March 2021 all of the available garden plots had been reserved and in June the gardeners held a dual grand opening ceremony along with the Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center which is located inside the historic Emerald House. This new garden provides 35 plots within walking distance for many east Falmouth residents. To find out more or put your name down for a plot go to the Emerald Community Garden website or read more about it in this news article.

Over the last 4 years, community gardening at two East Falmouth locations has exceeded expectations and plots are in high demand.  Farming Falmouth, looking to expand opportunities for community gardeners from Woods Hole and West Falmouth, approached the Conservation and Agricultural Commissions, and The 300 Committee to establish a 3rd garden at Peterson Farm.

An agreement for the use of the former farmhouse location is pending.

Approximately 30 10’ x 10’ plots are expected to be available at Peterson Farm Community Garden in spring ’24. Look for news about availability in January '24. If you have questions, or would like to add your name to the waiting list for plots, write to petersonfarmcommunitygarden@gmail.com
